Video President Barack Obama’s Inaugural Address

Making history as America’s first African American President, Barack Obama took the oath of office, becoming the 44th President of the United States of America. Only forty-six years after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and proclaimed to the nation, "I have a dream," an estimated 2 million people gathered on the national mall in Washington D.C. to watch this history-making event.

Boldly declaring the “time has come to put away our childish ways” and speaking of the price and responsibility of citizenship, President Barach Obama declared that what is needed now is, "a new era of responsibility" in which every American fulfills their duties to themselves, their nation, and the world.
